SMITH ON NETS’ WISH LIST

INDIANAPOLIS – Kenny Smith is interested in coaching the Nets – and a few other teams. Now the two-time ring winner with the Rockets is hoping to be interviewed for New Jersey’s position.

“They put their feelers out to see who’s interested and that’s basically been it. Am I interested? Yes,” said Smith. The former North Carolina star is rumored to be part of a list being compiled by the brass at YankeeNets, who are seeking a director of basketball operations, a team president and head coach.

“No meeting’s been set, nothing of that nature. So I’m just sitting back. There are about three or four teams doing the same with me. It’s been the same conversation as well,” Smith said, last night as a TNT analyst. “I’m extremely happy with what I’m doing but if you hear any rumor about basketball and me, it’s probably true.”-
