A slice of the world’s most sought-after collection of rock memorabilia is being rolled onto the auction block.
WolfgangsVault.com, featuring 30,000 vintage items – from 39-year-old Chuck Berry concert tickets to 18-year-old Grateful Dead mugs – is putting its first lot on eBay today.
Among the artifacts up for bid are a handbill from The Beatles’ 1966 Washington, D.C., show, starting at $1,550, and a Woodstock poster signed by its graphic designer, at $1,750.
Also coming from the $60 million archives – amassed over three decades by the late music promoter Bill Graham – are never-before-released videos of live performances of some of the biggest acts of all time.
Those include Peter Frampton “Coming Alive” and Lynyrd Skynyrd belting out “Sweet Home Alabama” at Graham’s 1972 Day on the Green series in San Francisco.
The weeklong auction marks a first for collectors, who handpicked the items they wanted to bid on. In all, 358 items have been set aside for the new monthly auctions. (p. 19 Metro)
