GE to sponsor live Fallon ads, ‘Tonight Show’ app

Turns out comedian Jimmy Fallon will be doing live commercials on the NBC network’s “Tonight Show” after all.

Fallon, who is taking over “The Tonight Show” from Jay Leno, has struck a deal with General Electric, the former owner of NBC network. GE still shares space with the network’s headquarters at 30 Rock.

In a statement issued Friday, NBCUniversal and General Electric confirmed that Fallon will perform GE-branded integrations that feature children showcasing inventions. The integrations will begin Feb. 19 under a segment titled, “Tonight Show Fallonventions.”

Separately, GE will also be the sponsor of a new “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” application.

NBC’s local news programming in New York has also been featuring the comedian in brief skits to promote his arrival in the hallowed late-night slot. The new host kicks off the refreshed program on Feb. 17 at midnight, following the Olympics. A new website also launches on Feb. 17.

The Post reported Wednesday that Madison Avenue was hoping that Fallon would be open to incorporating commercials into his show in the same fashion as other late-night hosts, including Stephen Colbert on Comedy Central and Jimmy Kimmel on ABC.
