Times Square ‘Cookie Monster’ fights charges after allegedly shoving kid

He’s no monster, the Times Square “Cookie Monster” is insisting.

Osvaldo Quiroz-Lopez — an alleged costumed cad accused of violently shoving a toddler whose mother wouldn’t tip him — is continuing to fight his misdemeanor reckless endangerment case rather than take a no-jail plea.

Quiroz-Lopez came to court in a three-piece suit and a Cookie Monster-blue bow tie, and rejected prosecutors’ offer of community service and two years anger management.

The 33-year-old remains free on $1,000 bail. He declined to talk to reporters as he left court.

Officials say Quiroz-Lopez screamed at Parmita Katkar, an actress and former beauty queen from India, “Give me money! Give me money! I get $2 for a photo!” after Katkar’s two-year-old son posed for a picture with the alleged Cookie Monster-clad cad.

Cops say that when Katkar explained she didn’t have cash on her, Quiroz-Lopez dropped his Sesame Street persona still further, shouting, “You are a bitch, your son is a bastard, and your stuff is trash.”

Quiroz-Lopez then allegedly gave the tot a shove with both hands, sending him off balance and nearly to the pavement, the criminal compliant against him alleges.

Complaints against Times Square’s costumed characters have been on the rise, with a Super Mario busted in an alleged groping in December and a Spider-Man netted in February for assault.
