Emergency injunction issued against e-Hail taxi app

Don’t push the button on your e-Hail taxi hailing app just yet.

An Appellate Division panel today issued an emergency injunction halting the implementation of the program.

The order will give appellate judges time to review a Manhattan Supreme Court ruling last week that green-lighted the program being set up by the Taxi and Limousine Commission.

The order promises an “expedited review” of the city’s plans, said Randy Mastro, who represents livery cab and black car companies opposed to the e-Hail program.

Livery cab and black car say e-Hail lets yellow taxis intrude on their turf. Liveries and black cars get much of their business from customers’ phone calls.

City officials declined comment, saying they’re awaiting a copy of the Appellate Division order.

Two e-Hail apps – one called Hailo, and the other called Uber – were approved by the TLC before today’s order.
