Cop and his traffic-agent wife jailed after Christmas Eve fight

An Upper East Side cop and his NYPD traffic-agent wife spent Christmas Eve in the slammer following a nasty fight in their South Bronx apartment, police sources told The Post.

Alexis Jusino, 44, who is assigned to Manhattan’s 19th Precinct, slapped his wife, Brenda, across the face during an argument in their apartment on East 156 Street near Third Avenue in Mott Haven, according to the sources.

While it was unclear what sparked the confrontation, Brenda, 45, allegedly retaliated by biting Alexis’ cheek.

The duo continued to attack one another until someone finally called 911 and cops broke up the fisticuffs, the sources said.

Alexis suffered swelling to the eye while Brenda sustained minor facial injuries. Both refused medical attention. Relatives were hardly shocked that the Jusinos were at each other’s throats.

“I’m not surprised. This used to happen with my son. They would fight and he would have to come stay here,” said Brenda’s former mother-in-law, who declined to give her name.

The woman also said that Brenda has a child with her son, but it was unclear whether the youngster was home at the time of the incident.

Police sources said that alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the Christmas Eve violence.

The duo was hauled into the 40th Precinct station house, and each was charged with misdemeanor assault.

They were awaiting arraignment Wednesday night in Bronx Criminal Court. Both were suspended without pay, and Alexis was stripped of his gun and badge, sources said. He will be assigned to administrative duties.

After his criminal case is adjudicated, he will face a departmental trial and possible disciplinary action, including termination, according to the sources.

Police statistics show that misdemeanor assaults in the 40th Precinct were down 11 percent from the same period last year.

Through Dec. 15, there were 1,137 assaults there, compared with 1,278 in 2012. Misdemeanor assaults were up 10.5 percent in the seven-day period, from 19 last year to 21.
