DNA bust in rape spree

The serial rapist who brutally attacked four women in Harlem and Washington Heights was arrested after he shockingly admitted to police that he looked like the sketch of the suspect and agreed to a DNA swab on the spot, police said yesterday.

Vincent Heyward, 21, was stopped by cops in front of his apartment building on Edgecombe Avenue at around 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 15, cops said.

When the officers showed Heyward a copy of the sketch, the suspect bizarrely said, “Yeah, that does look a lot like me,” sources said.

He then immediately agreed to take a DNA test, and investigators from the Special Victims Squad were called in, police said.

Yesterday, police were notified that Heyward’s DNA was a definitive match to the DNA found in all four rape cases, police said.

Heyward surrendered last night.

Between Aug. 1 and Sept. 7, Heyward allegedly raped four women, ranging in age from 23 to 69.
