Prez e’quip’ed for Letterman

An “excited” President Obama yukked it up in David Letterman’s easy chair yesterday, making cracks about everything from his apprehension for when his “wonderfully normal” daughters start dating to his own skin color.

Obama got his biggest laugh from the “Late Show” audience when Letterman asked him what he thought of Jimmy Carter’s speculation that racism was the driving force behind criticism of the White House.

“First of all, I think it’s important to realize that I was actually black before the election,” Obama deadpanned to huge laughs.

Talking about his summer vacation, in which he crisscrossed the globe on foreign-policy trips with his family, he said the kids, “basically goofed off during the summer, which I couldn’t do.”

Letterman’s quip that “others [presidents] have” sent Obama into peals of laughter.

The president also revealed some personal details about life in the first family — including the fact that the parents of Sasha and Malia’s friends get frisked by Secret Service when the girls visit their houses.

But despite that, they are “happy kids so far.”

“I worry about when they are teenagers. I suppose they are going to want to go on dates and I’ll have all these men with guns around,” said Obama. “At that point they may have some stress.”

He also revealed that his youngest daughter, Sasha, has been inundated with homework since starting second grade and he and Michelle talk “all the time” about what it’s like for them to live in the White House.

He also continued his pitch for health-care reform, saying it would save the country money.
