‘Boozed up’ mom indicted for fatal slumber party crash

A Bronx woman accused of drunken driving has been indicted in connection with an accident that killed an 11-year-old girl and injured six of her friends on their way to a slumber party.

Carmen Huertas was charged with manslaughter and vehicular manslaughter, as well as operating a vehicle while under the influence and assault. She faces 15 years if convicted.

Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau scheduled a news conference to discuss the case.

Police charged her with driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter following the Oct. 11 incident on the Henry Hudson Parkway.

Police said Huertas was driving about 70 mph when the car flipped over, fatally injuring Leandra Rosado.

The name of the defendant’s attorney was not immediately on record and no phone number was listed under her name.

She is expected to be arraigned in mid-November.
