Subway signs for your home ‘station’

Next stop: your home?

An Internet startup — http://www.underground-signs.com — is customizing MTA subway signs for use in offices and homes.

The site creates made-to-order metal boards that are dead ringers for the MTA’s trademark black-and-white signage.

Customers can order signs bearing actual station names or personalized ones. Think “Yankee Stadium” above your TV.

“It brings an element of city life into your house,” said co-founder Trevor MacDermid, 33, who opened shop last week.

But the MTA isn’t exactly onboard yet. Its lawyers sent MacDermid a letter urging him to sign a licensing agreement. A spokesman said the agency generally seeks 10 percent royalty from such businesses.

MacDermid charges $400 for an 8-by-1-foot sign, $310 for a 5-by-1 footer and $99 for an 18-inch square.
