A child advocate is blitzing Miami with warnings for parents and kids to steer clear of rock legend Pete Townshend.
Protect Our Children mailed a “Sex Offender Advisory” to homes near Sun Life Stadium, where Townshend’s band, The Who, will perform at halftime of the Super Bowl.
Townshend, 64, was accused in 2003 of accessing a child-porn Web site years earlier, but he was not criminally charged.
Townshend admitted to accessing the Web site with a credit card, but claimed he was doing research for a memoir on abuse he suffered as a kid. British police didn’t find any child porn in his home or computers.
He was given a formal “caution” and forced to register as a sex offender.
Kevin Gillick, the lone staffer of Protect Our Children, said he believes Townshend is a threat.
“It’s dangerous to be around anyone identified as a sex offender,” Gillick said. “Being on a sex-offender list is a profound, important statement.”
A rep for Townshend declined comment.
