FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Robert Mathis showed Rex Ryan some love yesterday.
One mention of the Jets head coach to the Colts defensive end by The Post and it drew a big smile from Mathis.
“I actually like Coach Ryan,” Mathis said. “I like his methods. I love it, make no mistake about it, but that’s just not our way [with the Colts].
“All players around the league like [Ryan],” Mathis added. “I don’t take anything disrespectful from what he says. He wants to pump up his boys. He’s got to get his boys right. I understand that. He’s real cool, a real cool guy.”
Mathis also had complimentary words for Mark Sanchez.
“He was a pleasant surprise,” he said. “He grew up and made some real good throws against us. He definitely got my respect.”
