Revis eyes ‘Tweet’ revenge

Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis returned to practice yesterday after missing Wednesday with an illness.

“Ocho fever,” Revis joked, referring to Chad Ochocinco, whom he’ll match up against Sunday.

Revis didn’t seem the least bit upset about the barrage of Twitter posts Ochocinco has fired off saying he was going to “embarrass” Revis.

“We’ll see on Sunday,” Revis said. “The message is: You can’t Tweet on Sundays. You’ve got to leave your phone in the locker room and bring you’re ‘A’ game.”

Revis and Ochocinco are friends, both living in south Florida in the offseason, but they remain the marquee matchup in Sunday’s game because of Ochocinco’s trash talk.

“I’m not a big trash-talker, but he’s starting to bring it out of me a little bit,” Revis said. “I don’t back down from competition. He might be winning online right now, but on the field, we’ll see who gets the best out of one of us. I’m not shying away from the competition. It’s going to be fun.”

* With a Jets win likely to send them to Cincinnati next week to play the Bengals in a wild-card game, coach Rex Ryan was asked about holding anything back from the game plan this Sunday.

“Trust me, we’re not saving anything,” Ryan said. “That’s pretty safe to say. We’re not going to save anything. I doubt [Cincinnati will]. They may. You’ll know that by who’s playing and who’s not playing.”

Jets defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said, “[the Bengals] can take that approach, but we can’t. There is no next week if we don’t win this game. The gun will be empty.”

* Nickel back Donald Strickland missed practice again yesterday, and Ryan said “it doesn’t look good” that he’ll play Sunday. Both halfback Thomas Jones and fullback Tony Richardson, who were given a rest from practice on Wednesday, returned.
