NBC brags about Conan’s Emmy nominations after replacing him with Leno

NBC-Universal bragged about the four Emmy nominations pulled in by Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” Thursday just months after the network controversially yanked the host in favor of Jay Leno.

The network replaced O’Brien in January and heavily promoted Leno’s iteration of the show to Emmy voters in the spring.

“It is very rewarding to see the work of so many of NBC Universal’s artists honored with Emmy Award nominations today,” NBC Chairman Jeff Gaspin said in a statement that heralded O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” among those being honored.

O’Brien earned a nomination for best variety, musical or comedy series, while Leno was overlooked.

“Congrats to my staff on 4 Emmy nominations,” O’Brien Tweeted, joking “this bodes well for the future of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien.”

He will host a new late-night show on TBS starting in November.
