Jay-Z puts heat on ‘Big Papi’

Red Sox slugger David Ortiz’s own brand of hot sauce may put a chill on his plan to crush a $5 million trademark suit filed against him by Jay-Z.

Lawyers for the hip-hop mogul yesterday won permission to grill “Big Papi” under oath about his business ties to New York as part of the Manhattan federal court case.

Ortiz is being sued here for allegedly ripping off the name of Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club for Ortiz’s family-owned nightclub in the Dominican Republic.

Jay-Z — a Yankee fan — named his West 25th Street hot spot after the rare baseball feat of one player belting 40 home runs and stealing 40 bases in a single season.

Ortiz claims he can’t be sued here because his only connection to the Big Apple is the Red Sox’s nine regular-season games at Yankee Stadium.

But Jay-Z’s lawyers note that Big Papi En Fuego hot sauce was developed and marketed by Off Beat LLC, a Manhattan licensing firm.
