Bloomberg calls teachers ‘friending’ students inappropriate

Mayor Bloomberg today said he “can’t think of anything less appropriate” than teachers “friending” students on Facebook.

The mayor’s comments follow an exclusive story in The Post today that pointed out that at least three educators from city public high schools have been fired in the past six months for having inappropriate dealings with students on Facebook — one of which culminated in a sexual relationship.

POST EXCLUSIVE: 3 EDUCATORS FIRED FOR ‘FRIENDING’ STUDENTS

One of the booted employees is former Bronx teacher Chadwin Reynolds, who “friended” about a half-dozen female students and wrote creepy comments like, “This is sexy,” under some of their Facebook photos, schools investigators found.

“We have to make sure that the only people teaching our kids are people who act appropriately and have the judgment to know what is appropriate with students or not,” Bloomberg said.
