Simon Cowell’s personal fortune grows, now worth more than $250 million

Simon Cowell’s making a mint off his snarky TV personality.

The nasty “American Idol” judge’s personal fortune grew by an estimated $69 million (45 million pounds) last year, according to the Sunday Times of London’s forthcoming “Rich List 2010.”

Now worth more than $250 million (165 million pounds), Cowell ranks No. 11 on the list of British music millionaires.

More than half of his personal wealth came from cashing paychecks for his TV talent show work — including “Idol,” “The X Factor” and “Britain’s Got Talent” — over the past two years.

Cowell, who is also a music producer, got a big boost from “BGT’s” surprise hit Susan Boyle, who went on to become a worldwide phenomenon and record-selling success.

He still trails far behind “Idol” creator Simon Fuller, who comes in at No. 6, with a fortune of about $540 million.
