John Oliver’s off to a strong start on ‘The Daily Show’

John Oliver got off to a good start as Jon Stewart’s summer replacement on “The Daily Show.”

Monday night’s show, Oliver’s first of an eight-week subbing stint, averaged 1.5 million viewers on Comedy Central — in line with what the show averaged this season with Stewart hosting.

It was actually up 200,000 viewers from the previous Monday — and was also up slightly in the advertiser-coveted demo of adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.

Oliver’s guest was Seth Rogen.

Stewart is taking his first extended break from “The Daily Show” in 14 years.

He is directing the big-screen movie “Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival,” which is based on Maziar Bahari’s best-selling book.
