Francesa frustrated with Fox Sports: ‘They’ve dropped the ball’

Mike Francesa’s new simulcast is not going as he hoped.

The WFAN host has been on Fox Sports since late March, except when he isn’t. Francesa’s show has often been pre-empted by Champions League and UEFA Cup soccer, leaving him and his fans frustrated.

“I can’t explain it yet. I will. We are working on it, that’s all I can tell you,” Francesa said when a caller complained about it.

“They have dropped the ball when it comes to handling what they promised. We are working on it with the scheduling. I had a meeting with them today. I don’t have an answer for you yet. I promise you I am working on it. I apologize.”

Francesa’s show also switches mid-program from Fox Sports 1 to Fox Sports 2, which is not carried everywhere. But the soccer seems to be the main source of his anger. It’s not like he’s being booted by his beloved Yankees, as occasionally happened in the old days on YES Network.

“They have not done what they promised to do scheduling-wise,” he said. “For the folks that watch it every day, I do apologize. They have not done their job in that regard with the schedule. They have been very haphazard with the schedule and we are working on it, I promise.”
