Two Jets ejected in brawl

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The Jets and Patriots played an ugly game all night, and then things got really ugly.

The teams got into a fight with 38 seconds left in the game after Patriots cornerback Aqib Talib intercepted Jets quarterback Geno Smith. Center Nick Mangold hit Talib out of bounds in the legs, drawing the ire of Patriots coach Bill Belichick and sparking a fight that would lead to Jets offensive linemen D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Willie Colon being ejected. It appeared Colon pushed an official. Both will likely be fined.

Mangold said he was just trying to make a tackle and did not think Talib was out of bounds. Then, he heard Belichick screaming at him.

“He got heated about it,” Mangold said. “I was surprised by that. I thought he’d have more poise.”

Jets coach Rex Ryan joked the Jets must have been the only ones in the fight since no Patriots were ejected. The Pats felt that Mangold’s hit was dirty.

“Since it was the Jets, it was dirty,” Patriots lineman Logan Mankins said.
