Pulitzer Prize winner: Osama raid ‘one big lie’

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh says the much-heralded US raid that killed Osama bin Laden in 2011 is nothing but “one big lie.”

“Not one word of it is true,’’ the legendary muckraker told The Guardian newspaper about what the Obama administration has said — and US media reported — on bin Laden’s deathin 2011. He did not elaborate.

Hersh is currently writing a book on national security.

One chapter will be devoted to the raid by US Navy Seals at bin Laden’s Abottabad, Pakistan, compound, the newspaper said.

Hersh — who won a Pulitzer for his reporting on the My Lai massacre in Vietnam — said that even a report recently issued by the Pakistani government on life inside bin Laden’s compound was complete “bulls–t.”

“The Pakistanis put out a report, don’t get me going on it,” he said. “Let’s put it this way, it was done with considerable American input. It’s a bulls–t report.”
