‘Cop shooter’ was high before blasting officer

The Brooklyn farebeater who shot a rookie police officer after getting pulled off a city bus last month was high as a kite just before he blasted the cop, new court documents reveal.

Rashaun Robinson, 28, was arraigned Tuesday in Brooklyn Supreme Court on charges including attempted murder of a police officer for shooting NYPD cop James Li, 26, in both legs in Flatbush on February 26.

“Today I was in the area of Nostrand Avenue and Fulton Street smoking weed with people I don’t want to talk about,” Robinson told investigators, the court papers say.

Robinson left and boarded a city bus through the back door because he didn’t have any money, reads his statement, which was written for him by a detective because, he told cops, “I’m not a good writer.”

Robinson ran after Li yanked him off the bus.

“I heard the cops yell, ‘Stop.’ I kept running and heard two shots. I took my gun from my pants and started shooting and tried to get away,” Robinson said in his statement.

Robinson also said he tried to board the bus without paying because he’s homeless and has been carrying the gun he shot Li with “for years.”

Robinson told detectives he carries a gun because cops think they run everything.

“They are the biggest gang in New York and are always messing with black people and he is sick of it,” Robinson said, according to court papers.

Li was released from Kings County Hospital in a wheelchair two days after the shooting.
