Everyone’s favorite Easter candy is heading to the big screen

The best-tasting bird in the animal kingdom could be making its way to the big screen. A movie based on Peeps, the classic, sickeningly sweet Easter candy, is in the works.

Deadline reports that the marshmallow chicks could make their way to theaters via Adam Rifkin, who directed “Detroit Rock City” and who has written movies such as “Underdog” and “MouseHunt.”

The animated movie would follow a Peep who gets lost the night before a diorama contest and has to find his way back through a fantasy world of different dioramas before the contest’s judging begins.

Rifkin was inspired to make the movie after observing his niece and nephew working on their own Peeps diorama for a class project.

It all sounds good to us — as long as they keep those sacrilegious bunny-shaped Peeps out of it.
