Businesses are slow to use mobile technology

Does business savvy equal mobile smarts? Not exactly.

Many businesses are slow to utilize mobile technology to help manage their businesses, according to Capital One’s latest survey of small-business owners with less than $10 million in revenue.

Eighty-six percent of small business owners use their smart devices to communicate with their customers. But this large percentage likely consists of mainly calls and texts to customers, Capital One spokesperson Alison Cahill said. A smaller percentage of them interact via social networks.

Those surveyed reported using mobile tech to share files, calendars and tasks (59 percent), track expenses (44 percent) or record cash flow (42 percent), but less than a third of owners say they use it for real-time inventory tracking (27 percent) or sales (24 percent).
