Jimmer may draw look from Knicks with Felton in doubt

Raymond Felton’s future is in doubt and the Knicks just cut Beno Udrih, so the team figures to be in the market for a point guard.

And while Jimmer Fredette is reportedly close to being bought out in Sacramento, he may not be a fit at the Garden despite drawing some interest from the Knicks.

The Knicks have yet to comment on Felton’s situation after gun charges were brought against him early Tuesday morning, but if Felton is out, they will need a point guard to pair with Pablo Prigioni.

Fredette, who rose to stardom at BYU but has disappointed since being selected 10th overall in 2011, likely won’t do the Knicks much good in that department. He had been serving as a backup point guard with the Kings, but according to the Sacramento Bee, his effectiveness was limited by poor ball-handling skills and an inability to create his own shot.

The Knicks are also looking to upgrade their defense, according to Yahoo! Sports, and Fredette is a notoriously poor defender.

The 25-year-old played his best game as a pro Feb. 12 at the Garden, where he torched the Knicks for a career-high 24 points in a 106-101 overtime victory.

In order for the Knicks to sign Fredette, he would have to clear waivers.
