Nets’ Johnson picked for All-Star Game

If Joe Johnson had any plans for All-Star Weekend, he’ll have to cancel them.

The 6-foot-7 shooting guard was named Thursday night to his seventh All-Star team after the results of voting by the league’s assistant coaches was announced on TNT.

Johnson, who is averaging 15.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists, has been the lone constant for the Nets in a season full of injuries and inconsistent play, missing just one game and carrying the team for stretches while Deron Williams and Brook Lopez missed time with injuries and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett struggled.

He likely cemented his candidacy in the minds of the voters with hot streak in mid-January, scoring more than 20 points in five of six games in the midst of a season-changing 10-2 Nets run.

Johnson last made the All-Star team in 2012, his final of six straight appearances in Atlanta. The Nets have had an All-Star in each of their two years in Brooklyn after Lopez made the team last year.
