PSAL baseball roundup: Lehman routs Monroe, clinches Bronx A West crown

Lehman clinched its second straight Bronx A West in impressive fashion – by routing rival and Bronx A East champion Monroe, 14-4, in Bronx baseball crossover action Saturday morning at John F. Kennedy.

Michael Moreno homered and drove in two runs, Jhosse Estrella scored twice and added two RBIs and Jesse Garcia scored three runs for the Lions (14-2), who scored 13 third-inning runs and are ranked fifth in the PSAL by The Post. Justin Morales and Braian Angelista each had two RBIs for Monroe (13-2).

No. 1 George Washington 10, Norman Thomas 0: Jariel Cedeno tossed a seven-hit shutout for his third win, Nelson Rodriguez had three RBIs, Fernelys Sanchez scored three runs and Randy Rodriguez and Osvaldo Pichardo each had two RBIs for undefeated George Washington (16-0) in Manhattan A East. Norman Thomas finishes the regular season 11-5.

No. 2 James Monroe 14, DeWitt Clinton 5: Justin Morales drove in three runs, Vladimir Gomez doubled twice, scored three runs and tallied three hits and Frailyn Paez homered and notched five RBIs for Monroe, which clinched the Bronx A East title. Clinton is 8-7.

No. 5 Lehman 5, No. 9 John F. Kennedy 1: Steven Pinales fanned eight in six innings for the win, Jesse Garcia had two hits and an RBI and Pinales and Justin Echevarria each scored once and drove in a run for Lehman. Kennedy is 10-5.

No. 8 Telecommunications 6, Fort Hamilton 1: Alex Serrano fanned five in a complete-game effort for his fourth win, Anthony Nunez had three hits and an RBI and Joseph Pena also had three hits and scored twice for Telecom (13-3), which clinched the Brooklyn A West crown for the fifth time in six years. Fort Hamilton is 11-5.

Stuyvesant 15, Murry Bergtraum 0: Jakob Moran drove in three runs, Kyle Yee scored twice and drove in two and Scott Chiusano notched three hits, scored twice and drove in a run for Stuyvesant, which scored nine runs in the first inning and improved to 10-6 in Manhattan A West. The Hitmen also won the second game of the doubleheader, 14-4, as Bergtraum finishes the year 4-12.

John Adams 13, Newtown 2: Justin Ruiz had two hits and three RBIs, Jorge Barahoma scored three runs and Jeffrey Valera tripled twice, doubled twice and drove in six runs for Adams (13-3) in Queens A West. Newtown is 4-12.

Forest Hills 9, Francis Lewis 4: Frank Duffy had two RBIs and Brett Wisner scored twice for Forest Hills (9-7) in Queens A East. Lewis is 6-10.

Long Island City 6, Richmond Hill 3: Kevin Franco went five innings for the win, David Velazquez doubled and drove in two runs and Jeremy Nunez had two hits and scored twice for LIC (9-7) in Queens A West. Richmond Hill is 2-14.

New Dorp 1, Curtis 0, (Eight innings): Dan Karasinski fanned 11 and allowed just three hits in a complete-game effort and Tom Sheridan drove in Steve Kuczera with the game’s lone run for New Dorp (10-8) in Staten Island A. Joseph Curatolo was the hard-luck loser for Curtis (9-8)

FDR 6, New Utrecht 3: Enrique Leonardo had two hits and four RBIs, Dicarlo Gonzalez and Henry Dominguez each had two RBIs and scored twice and David Godoy scored twice for FDR (9-7) in Brooklyn A West. New Utrecht is 6-9.

CLASS B

Smith 6, Jane Addams 4: Americo Fernandez allowed just two hits and a run in strong innings, Jerry Velez had two RBIs and Jeffrey Soto scored twice for Smith (12-4) in Bronx B South. Jane Addams is 9-7.

Harry Van Arsdale 12, Juan Morel Campos 1: Nicolas Sanchez had two hits and three RBIs, Justin Colon doubled twice and scored four runs and Victor Rodriguez Jr. had two RBIs and scored twice for Brooklyn B North winner Harry Van Arsdale (13-1). Juan Morel Campos is 12-2.

Bathgate 7, Law, Government & Justice 1: Luis Tejada went the distance for the win and struck out seven, Felix Tejada had two RBIs and scored twice and Julio Martinez drove in a run and scored once for Bathgate (14-2) the Bronx B South champion. Law, Government & Justice is 4-11 in Bronx B South.

Law, Government & Justice 4, Bathgate 1: Osvaldo Adames had three hits and two RBIs and Henry Rambalde struck out three and gave up just three hits in seven innings for the win for Law, Government & Justice.

Queens HS of Teaching 6, Martin Van Buren 2: Nick Hoyte had two RBIs, Yoldalyn Canela Vargas went 6-1/3 for the win and struck out four and also had two hits and an RBI for Queens HS of Teaching (13-3) in Queens B South. Van Buren is also 13-3. The two teams split the division crown.

All City Leadership 13, Tilden 4: Jonathan Laborde had three hits and scored four runs, Rafael Felix notched two hits and scored two runs and Joharry Ramirez also scored twice for All City Leadership (7-9) in Brooklyn B South. Tilden is also 7-9.

Canarsie 9, Erasmus Hall 1: Debonair Bolling fanned 13 in a complete-game performance and also had four hits and five RBIs, Joshua Laureano scored twice and Henry Diaz had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for Canarsie (12-2) in Brooklyn B Central. Erasmus Hall, the division champion, is 14-1.

Robert F. Wagner Jr. 11, Beach Channel 9: Robert Goldberg had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs, Timothy Jacquez scored three runs and John Cudak scored two runs and drove in three for Robert F. Wagner Jr. is 8-8 in Queens B Central.. Beach Channel is 9-7 in Queens B South.
