Prince William, Kate Middleton return from honeymoon

LONDON — Prince William and Catherine returned to Britain after their honeymoon getaway in the Seychelles, Clarence House confirmed Saturday.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have returned to the United Kingdom from their honeymoon in the Seychelles. The couple thoroughly enjoyed their time together, and they are grateful to the Seychelles government for their assistance in making the honeymoon such a memorable and special 10 days,” Clarence House said in a statement.

William and Catherine, who were married April 29 at London’s Westminster Abbey, took a short weekend break after their wedding but delayed their honeymoon so that the new husband could finish a shift as a search and rescue helicopter pilot at the air force base in Wales where he is stationed.

However, they left for a longer romantic getaway aboard a private jet May 10 and were dropped onto a private, £4,000 ($6,490) a night Seychelles island by helicopter the following day.

While there, the couple ordered food including ham, Philadelphia cream cheese, quail eggs, a dozen bottles of Champagne and Brussels sprouts — a vegetable noted for its high levels of folic acid, which is recommended for women trying to conceive.

They also rented the £2 million 2006 Ferretti motor yacht Sea Stream for a treasure islands tour, according to The Sun. The boat is said to be the fastest luxury vessel for rent in the islands and can reach top speeds of 40mph.

It is understood that the couple will now return to their four-bedroom rented cottage in Anglesey, Wales, in order for William to get back to his search and rescue duties.
