This year’s Times Square ball drop is no longer going to be a bridge-and-tunnel event.
The organizers of the New Year’s Eve bash have told MTV to fuggadaboud its plans to drop “Jersey Shore” reality star Nic ole “Snooki” Polizzi in a hamster- toy-like ball in Times Square to morrow night.
When officials at the Times Square Alliance learned that one of New York’s most hallowed traditions would be Jerseyfied, they told MTV it didn’t have permission to do a ball drop from the roof of its studios.
“The request to have her in a separate ball on a setback roof came too late and was too impractical to fit into our outdoor events,” a spokesman for the event organizers said yesterday.
MTV, which made the gnome-like guidette a star, did not respond to calls for comment.
