Dr. Drew prepared to leave MTV

Dr. Drew Pinsky is taking his first steps away from MTV — the network where he has been a fixture for 25 years.

“I always thought of it as a good thing that a guy with gray hair and a point of view was showing up on their network,” he tells The Post. “But did I want to be the MTV guy? Not necessarily.”

Pinsky will debut a new talk show on CNN’s Headline News channel in March.

“I’ve been talking to 15- to 20-year-olds for 25 years,” he says. “Some of them are 40 now. And some of them are already at Headline News. But I hope the ones that are young will come over with me.”

“I think people are kind of confused about who I am and what I do. I have a point of view and I am going to take the stories to a different place because of that.”

Among the guests Pinsky hopes to land: Lindsay Lohan.

“I want to talk about what’s really going on with a woman who’s suffering like that,” he says.

Pinsky also hopes to feature cast members from MTV’s “Teen Mom” and “16 and Pregnant” — “if MTV will allow it,” he says. “It is stunning how much attention those girls get. I know them all very well.

“Let’s bring them on and talk about it.”

Despite the recent arrest of “Teen Mom” Amber Portwood, Pinsky says most of the girls featured on the show have been largely unaffected by the sudden fame.
