Favre accuser has over $18,000 in credit card debt: report

Christina Scavo, a massage therapist who is suing quarterback Brett Favre and the New York Jets, is saddled with more than $18,000 in unpaid credit card bills, TMZ reported Friday.

Scavo and another massage therapist, Shannon O’Toole, filed the lawsuit against the team and Favre on Monday. They claim that Favre propositioned them for sex in 2008, and when Scavo’s husband confronted the star quarterback, the team stopped calling the women in to work.

According to documents filed in Nassau County (N.Y.) Supreme Court, Scavo was sued by American Express in 2009 for $18,701.93, and the company obtained a lien against her for the money. According to the report, the lien is still active.

Scavo’s attorney told TMZ he was not aware of the debt, but said it is not unusual since she lost her job and could not pay her bills.

According to the lawsuit, the 41-year-old married Favre sent the following text messages to O’Toole when he played for the Jets.

“Brett here “[Y]ou and crissy want to get together im all alone[sic].” followed by, “Kinda lonely tonight I guess I have bad intentions.”

Favre was fined $50,000 by the NFL last week for failing to cooperate in the league’s investigation of his alleged sexual harassment of another Jets employee, Jenn Sterger.

The Jets have said the lawsuit is “completely without merit.”

The future Hall-of-Famer is not expected to return to the NFL next season.
