Jay-Z takes shot at agent Boras in rap

Scott Boras has more than 150 clients, but Robinson Cano ain’t one.

Rapper Jay-Z is making sure the super agent doesn’t forget the one that got away.

In a new song “Crown” from Jay-Z’s upcoming album, which is released today, the rapper takes a shot at Boras with the line, “Scott Boras, you over baby/Robinson Cano, you coming with me.”

Cano, who had been a longtime client of Boras, dropped him in favor of Jay-Z’s new company Roc Nation in April. Cano is in the final year of his current deal with the Yankees, which pays him $15 million in 2013.

After the Yankees 3-2 victory, Cano, who had a two-run double, was asked about the song.

“I haven’t heard that yet,” he said. “I didn’t know. Now I got to hear it.”

Asked if he had been in a song before, he said, “Not an American song; a Latino song.’’

The song also alludes to Kevin Durant, another high-profile athlete who is now represented by Roc Nation. Jets Quarterback Geno Smith and WNBA star Skylar Diggins are also clients.
