Lindsay Lohan was too busy to return stolen necklace

LOS ANGELES — Actress Lindsay Lohan wanted to return an allegedly stolen necklace to a jewelry store, but she was too busy.

A police report obtained by TMZ alleged that Lohan’s assistant told police that, “Ms. Lohan was in possession of the necklace and wanted to give the necklace back to the store the day after she took it from the store, but she was very busy.”

Lohan, 24, was tipped off that a search warrant had been issued in the matter and then had her assistant head to the police station before a warrant could be issued.

The assistant also told police she tried to return the necklace to the shop before she went to the police station, however nobody picked up the phone at the jewelry store when she rang.

Police alleged in the report that, “There was no description of the stolen necklace give[n] to Ms. Lohan, yet she gave the exact necklace in question to her assistant to return.”

Lohan pleaded not guilty Feb. 9 to one count of felony grand theft after she was accused of stealing the $2,500 necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store in January.

She later took to social networking sites to declare her innocence. “fyi – i would never steal, in case people are wondering,” she wrote on Facebook. “I was not raised to lie, cheat, or steal.”
