Seth Rogen’s new AMC drama

AMC is developing a new drama based on the ’90s comic book series “Preacher” written by Seth Rogen.

The series follows Rev. Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith and learned that God has left heaven and abandoned his responsibilities. He sets out to track God down and demand answers with the help of his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire — but on his tail is a lone gunman named Saint of the Killers whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.

Rogen will write and executive-produce with Evan Goldberg, his partner on films like “Superbad,” “This Is the End” and “Pineapple Express.”

The duo said in a statement that they had been working on an adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon comic for seven years.

Sam Catlin (“Breaking Bad”) will serve as showrunner on the project, which is produced by Sony Pictures Television.
