Wright, Byrd go back-to-back in Mets win

David Wright and Marlon Byrd became the first Mets to hit back-to-back home runs all season when they both went deep against Phillies starter Cliff Lee in the first inning of yesterday’s 5-0 victory.

It marked the Mets’ first game with consecutive homers since Justin Turner and Wright went deep back-to-back on Sept. 25, 2012 against the Pirates.

“I didn’t know that,’’ said Wright, who went 2-for-4. “But I think we’ve done a nice job. You never want to build your lineup around those all-or-nothing type guys, so we don’t have a lot of true home run hitters. But Marlon’s done a fantastic job wherever we put him in the lineup.

“Yeah, it’s surprising that we haven’t hit back-to-back homers this year, but I’m glad they came [yesterday]. I’m glad we were able to get runs early off one of the best in the National League and allow [Matt] Harvey to do his thing.’’

Yesterday was the ninth anniversary of Wright’s big league debut. His home run left him with 219 for his career, one shy of Mike Piazza for second on the Mets’ all-time list.

* Byrd has an RBI in five straight games, the second-longest streak of his career.

* Harvey has the lowest ERA (2.38) and WHIP (0.97) in team history through 30 starts. He became the first pitcher in Mets history with four games in a single season with 10 strikeouts and no walks, and just the 10th since 1916 to do so.

“His stuff’s electric. I’m not hitting off him but just watching him from the seats, he looks amazing. If he stays healthy the sky’s the limit to what he can do,’’ Dwight Gooden told The Post. “Him and Clayton Kershaw, those two guys are amazing. [Stephen] Strasburg his first year was that. Unfortunately he got the injury. If [Harvey] stays healthy I look forward to seeing those three guys battle it out.’’

* Manager Terry Collins said Turner could return to the Mets tonight against Atlanta, and if not “he’ll be back very soon.’’ … Daniel Murphy had his hitting streak snapped at 10 games.
