Jay D-Day: Feb. 6

Jay Leno’s final night hosting NBC’s “Tonight Show” will be Feb. 6.

But he’ll be paying his staffers through next September, when his contract officially expires, deadline.com is reporting. It cited an internal announcement from Leno’s executive- producer, Debbie Vickers.

Leno, who will be succeeded by Jimmy Fallon on Feb. 24, during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, hasn’t yet announced his next move — though NBC execs have reportedly been talking to him about remaining at the network in some on-air capacity, perhaps as the host of an occasional prime-time special.

Leno has hosted “Tonight” since 1992, taking a short detour to prime time when he was replaced by Conan O’Brien for seven months.

Since returning to “Tonight” in 2010, his ratings have grown progressively stronger.

But that hasn’t swayed NBC’s decision to replace him with Fallon.

Fallon, in turn, will be replaced on “Late Night” by Seth Meyers.
