Say goodbye to “Showbiz Tonight.”
HLN has cancelled the long-running show, which airs at noon, effective this Thursday night. Host AJ Hammer will remain with the network. “I know that we are all working hard to grow the brand and take HLN to the next level,” HLN EVP/GM Albie Hecht wrote in a memo to staffers. “Of course, during our evolution, some changes will be difficult. This is one of the toughest . . . Entertainment stories will continue to be a major pillar for HLN, and AJ will remain an important part of that coverage.”
“Congrats to the AMAZING @showbiztonight team for 9 incredible years,” Hammer tweeted on Monday. “What an honor.. What a ride. #thankful.”
There’s no word, yet, on what will replace “Showbiz Tonight” on the network’s schedule.
