Michael Jackson’s voice revived in newly released tracks

Bet you thought he was dead, didn’t you?

Well, he is legally, but Michael Jackson’s estate and old record label are intent on keeping his record sales alive by raiding the eccentric star’s vault of material. Last night, following a performance of the track by Usher at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles, the previously unreleased “Love Never Felt So Good” was made available on iTunes.

The disco-tinged R&B track — written by Jackson and Canadian crooner Paul Anka in 1983 — comes in two versions. The first is Jacko’s original demo and the second version is a modern reworking that features vocals by Justin Timberlake and additional production from Timbaland. Check out the two songs below.

Prepare for more unheard blasts from the pasts. The album “Xscape” arrives on May 13 and features seven more reworkings of lost Jackson cuts. If “Love Never Felt So Good” is meant to get us excited for that collection, then it’s not working so well.
