NBC yanks ‘Michael J. Fox’ from Thursday lineup

Despite a 22-episode guarantee from NBC, “The Michael J. Fox Show” has been pulled from the Thursday night schedule.

The nail in the coffin came just a week after NBC President Bob Greenblatt pulled another poorly rated comedy, “Sean Saves the World,” from the schedule.

Fox’s show, intended as a comeback for the actor, will be replaced on February 27  by “Hollywood Game Night,” which will run through April 3. NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage starts Thursday night.

According to Deadline Hollywood, production on the Fox show wrapped in December and 15 episodes have aired. The network hasn’t officially canceled the comedy, which co-stars Betsy Brandt, and the fate of the remaining 7 episodes is unknown.

Fox’s most recent numbers — a 0.7 and 0.6 in the 18-49 demo — were the point of no return. “Sean Saves the World” and “The Michael J. Fox Show” were part of a new Thursday night comedy lineup, which also featured the already canceled “Welcome to the Family.”
