Hollywood’s leading lady: Michelle’s night with Oscar

The Issue: Michelle Obama’s surprise appearance as an awards presenter during the Oscars ceremony.

I find it very interesting that the same night Daniel Day Lewis wins the Oscar for his portrayal of President Lincoln, Michelle Obama appears on the telecast to present the Best Picture Oscar (“Fallen Star,” Feb. 25).

Her husband has been portraying the president of the United States for over four years.

Here is a faithful summary of the Oscars: “Me, me, me. I, I, I. Me, me, me.”

They should rename the show the AcadaME Awards.

I was saddened that the Oscars politicized the telecast by having the First Lady announce the award for Best Picture.

But then I realized that with so many in Hollywood looking to move jobs out of the country to avoid high taxes, and with film companies building studios in China, it seemed like a move to curry political favor.

Very sad that even our entertainment industry is kowtowing to the White House.

Michelle Obama’s appearance at the Oscars proves that America is living through the horror of an episode of “The Hunger Games.”

While we out here in the districts struggle with high energy prices, unemployment and oppressive taxes to feed the capital, Michelle is glamming it up with the powdered elite.

Even the Mockingjay (star Jennifer Lawrence) was there.

The show was mostly entertaining, but the worst part was when Michelle Obama announced the Best Picture winner.

Don’t she and her husband have anything better to do than sit in the limelight all the time?

Did it really add to the evening’s entertainment to make unnecessary remarks about Jews in Hollywood?

Host Seth MacFarlane’s boorish attempts at humor failed.

Is there anyone out there with the class of Bob Hope or Johnny Carson?

Bring back Billy Crystal, if he’s available.
