De Blasio’s ‘nonunion’ boo$t

Labor darling Bill de Blasio will attend a fund-raiser tonight hosted by a developer who is refusing to use union workers on a major project in Brooklyn, The Post has learned.

A vice president of the Toll Brothers firm will host a reception for de Blasio’s Democratic mayoral campaign — while some of his opponents are attending an annual conference of the Building Trades in Florida.

Toll Brothers got into hot water with the city’s Hotel and Motel Trades Council for its nonunion construction of a luxury hotel and condo project in Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Toll Brothers is, however, using organized labor to run the condos, said a source familiar with the project.

De Blasio defended the fund-raiser, hosted by Toll Brothers VP David Von Spreckelsen.

“Whether it’s fighting for universal paid sick days or real living wages, everyone knows that Bill has an unmatched record of standing up for workers’ rights,” said campaign spokesman Dan Levitan.

Levitan also said de Blasio has worked with Toll Brothers before to ensure union work on its projects.

De Blasio’s support of the sick-time and living-wage bills was a dig aimed at City Council Speaker and Democratic mayoral front-runner Christine Quinn, who continues to block a vote on a bill requiring paid sick days and who was criticized for weakening a living-wage bill before passing it last year.
