BBC’s ‘Copper’ bites the dust

The BBC America crime drama “Copper,” which was set in 19th century New York, specifically in the Five Points neighborhood — present-day Chinatown — has been cancelled. Its final episode will air Saturday night.

“Copper” premiered in 2012 and was BBC America’s first original scripted series, telling the immigrant experience in New York from several points of view. Produced by Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson, who teamed many years ago on “Homicide,” the show had modest ratings and a cast of name actors such as Alfre Woodard and Donal Logue who joined star Tom Weston-Jones.
