Jets’ Goodson could have serious knee injury

The Jets came out of Sunday’s loss to the Steelers as banged up as they have been all season, with several key players suffering injuries.

Running back Mike Goodson (knee), WR Clyde Gates (shoulder), CB Kyle Wilson (head) and RB Bilal Powell (shoulder) all left the game with injuries.

Coach Rex Ryan did not have any updates immediately after the game.

Powell said he is OK.

“No injury,” he said. “I just took a little hit and came out to take a little breather. Everything’s good.”

Goodson, though, is scheduled for an MRI exam Monday and the Jets fear it will reveal a serious knee injury.

Gates was wearing a sling on his left arm in the locker room. He was taken to the MRI exam room on a cart and could put no pressure on his left leg.

The Jets came into the game thin at cornerback and wide receiver, as injuries have sidelined Dee Milliner and Santonio Holmes, so any additional absences at those positions would hurt.

Ryan made a questionable call early in the game. The Jets were stopped at the Steelers’ 2 with just under four minutes to play in the first quarter and no score. Facing fourth-and-1 at the 2, Ryan opted for the field goal instead of going for the first down or touchdown.

“I’m thinking there, ‘Let’s just take the lead,’ ” Ryan said. “It was kind of windy out there. I thought our defense was playing well at that time. Let’s just get on the scoreboard.”

The Jets would wind up kicking three field goals and failed to score a touchdown.
