De Blasio rips NYPD’s ‘lazy’ use of stop-and-frisk

Democratic mayoral nominee Bill de Blasio agreed with Alec Baldwin’s assessment that the NYPD’s use of stop-and-frisk is “lazy” — a view Republican rival Joe Lhota called “infuriating.”

“Bill characterizing the NYPD as lazy is infuriating,” Lhota said Saturday. “On what planet is he living?”

De Blasio’s remarks came Friday during an exchange on the debut of Baldwin’s MSNBC talk show.

“Stop-and-frisk to me seems lazy,” the actor said.

De Blasio replied, “I really appreciate that analysis because it’s a very tough city, and it’s a tough city to police,” adding that the Constitution mandates that policing be balanced with democratic principals.

“So I would argue . . . you’re right, it’s harder,” de Blasio said.

The exchange left Lhota wondering how de Blasio could dare imply the NYPD was lazy.

“We have victims of crime in this city every single day, and he dares to call police who do their jobs lazy?” he asked.
