Apple is turning the art of walking and texting into a science.
The tech giant has filed a patent for “transparent texting” that aims to make it easier to stroll the streets without walking into a lamppost or getting struck by a car.
The visibility technology would replace the background of a text message with live video feed of a user’s surroundings, according to the patent made public last week.
Several studies suggest that walking while texting is even more difficult — and distracting — than texting while driving.
“A user who is walking while participating in a text messaging session may inadvertently collide with or stumble over objects in his path because his attention was focused on his device’s display instead of the path that he was traversing,” according to the patent filing.
