MTV adapts ‘Scream’, fireworks on NBC this week

MTV adapts the hit horror movie franchise into a new series, which sees the murder of a pretty high schooler expose a town’ s complex social hierarchy. When a loner is outed via cyberbullying, town officials investigate whether the crime is connected to a murder spree from the past.

Wednesday at 10 p.m. on CBS

The Halle Berry drama returns for Season Two with Molly (Berry) escaping from a psychiatric hospital to investigate bizarre deaths linked to her time in space — crossing paths with JD Richter (new cast member Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a determined cop who just signed on to the case.

Saturday at 8 p.m. on NBC

“Today” co-hosts Willie Geist and Tamron Hall emcee the annual two-hour telecast, featuring musical performances by Dierks Bentley, Kelly Clarkson, Brad Paisley, Flo Rida and Meghan Trainor as pyrotechnics light up the New York City skyline from two positions in the East River.
