RFR finds team to develop Upper East Side luxury tower

Aby Rosen and Michael Fuchs of RFR have teamed up with real-estate developer Hines, and China’s largest residential builder, Vanke, to develop the company’s long-stalled tower at 610 Lexington Ave. on the southwest corner of East 53rd Street.

Design plans for the long-stalled luxury condominiums tower.

The slender 61-story project, designed by Lord Norman Foster’s Foster + Partners, will rise next to the RFR-owned Seagram Building.

The architects said the new tower’s 700-foot, white, undulating curtain wall will be designed to contrast with the Mies van der Rohe-designed landmark building.

The new project is geared toward luxury condominiums, with sales expected to begin in 2015 for a 2017 opening.

City permits obtained last fall call for lounges, restaurants, and a ninth-floor swimming pool.

“Our goal is to combine the finest residences with thoughtful, creative amenities that enhance Manhattan living,” Rosen said in a statement.
