Texas teacher dodges jail, gets probation for sex with student

A Texas high-school teacher who bedded a 16-year-old student dodged jail time because she wrote an apology to his mother.

Nikki Scherwitz, 25, will get 10 years’ probation in exchange for pleading guilty to an inappropriate relationship with the pupil — and writing apology letters to his mom and the school district.

“I crossed an ethical boundary I never should have crossed. I’m sorry,” wrote the blonde beauty, who was also fined $5,000.

Scherwitz’s after-school affair was uncovered when she showed up at a post-prom party last spring, police said. One student at the party told Houston TV station KHOU that Scherwitz wore no shoes when she appeared at the party — but was sporting “like a cut-up, cut-off shirt and everything.”

Students believed the bad teach was also drinking before she left the bash with the teen, according to the report.

Scherwitz resigned from Brazosport HS in Freeport, Texas, after rumors began to swirl over the tryst. She won’t be allowed to teach again and was ordered to keep away from minors.

Prosecutors reportedly agreed to the plea deal because of the apology — and because the student was almost 17.
