A woman’s 20th birthday celebration ended in tragedy Friday night when wet roads caused the car carrying her and four friends to spin out of control and plunge into Steinway Creek in Queens — killing her and three of her pals, police sources said.

The 20-year-old driver identified by sources as Andrew Gramm, escaped the Honda Accord and called 911, but his four pals — Jaleel Furtado,20, Darius Fletcher, 21, the birthday girl, Crystal Gravely, 19, and another woman, Jada Monique Butts,19, — all died after rescue divers pulled them from the submerged car.

“They were good people and good friends. They were in school and motivated. I’m still in shock. I came down here because I had to see the scene. I just can’t believe it happened. I can’t believe they are gone,” a friend of the victims, Trayon Christian,19, said.

A neighbor said Jada Butts and the birthday girl, Crystal Gravely were good friends.

“It’s an absolute tragedy. I’m so sad for everyone,” Lawanda Parran said.

Investigators now believe the driver attempted to make a U-turn but lost control of the vehicle.

“The guy couldn’t stop and the car flipped into the creek,” a law enforcement source said.

The vehicle was traveling westbound on 19th Avenue just before the botched u-turn.

The car crashed through a chain-link fence and fell about 15 feet into the water from an industrial area near 19th Avenue and 37th Street in Astoria at about 10:40 p.m. on a foggy night and was completely submerged as cops and firefighters rushed to the scene.

The scuba divers had to break open the windows of the car — which the driver borrowed from his grandmother — to rescue the people inside, the source said.

A motionless man was pulled from the car and rushed into an ambulance, where rescue workers struggled frantically to revive him.

Two of the victims were rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition while the other two were taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, in critical condition – but none could be saved.

At about the same time, the tattooed driver — who police sources said blew a .00 on a Breathalyzer — sat inside an ambulance talking to emergency workers.

The driver and passengers were at Buffalo Wild Wings in Queens celebrating a birthday party before they went into the water, not far from a city wastewater treatment plant and the Rikers Island bridge, police sources said.

“He was the best. He was the best. Everyone loved him. He had so many friends, “ said Darius Fletcher’s aunt, who refused to be identified by name.
