Yankees hire new strength coach

The Yankees are bulking up Joe Girardi’s staff, agreeing to bring on Matthew Krause as the new strength and condition coach.

Krause previously worked with free agents Shin-Soo Choo and Bronson Arroyo in the same role with the Cincinnati Reds.

He replaces Dana Cavalea, who was let go in October after spending most of seven seasons as the Yankees’ strength and conditioning coach. The squad was destroyed by injuries last season as it stumbled to 85 wins and missed the postseason.

When he was removed from the position last month, Cavalea told The Post, “The Yankees were nothing but great to me, but there is a dissatisfying taste here about how things transpired. I have been there a long time. I felt there would be more loyalty.”Â
